Fatty Greene, who was elected to the position of Treasurer of the Freshman Class, was the only officer elected in the origi nal election. She was victorious over Sandra Russell. Billy Pardue, a freshman in the College Transfer division was elected to the position of President of the Freshman class. His opponent in the runoff elect ion was Jeff Shoemaker, also a student from the College Trans fer division. Charles Mitchell was elected to the post of Vice President of the Freshman class for the coming year, winning over Sharon Woods. Taking the position of Secre tary of the Freshman class was Patty Wagoner, who also had to campaign in the runoff election before the final outcome could be seen. All the students elected were from the College Transfer divis ions. There were no candidates from the vocational or technical divisions. Charles Johnson, President of the Student Government Associ ation at Wilkes Community Col lege, stated that this was a very close election and saw a nar row margin for most of the victors. The newly elected officials will now take their place on the Stu dent Government Association and serve the students as part of the executive committee of the SGA. Measurements For Ring^s to be Taken On November 11 between the hours of 10:30 and 1:30, Mr. De von Smith will be located in the bookstore for the purpose of measuring and taking orders for college class rings. Anyone who has one-half of his program com pleted or will have had one-half of his program completedthis quarter will be eligible to come by and place an order. A $10.00 deposit at the time of the order will be required and the balance paid when the ring arrives. MM jni ROBERT SHEFFIELD FIRST D.O.C. UNIT GRADUATE College Reports First Graduate From Department of Correction The Adult Basic Education de partment of Wilkes Community College has announced the gra duation of its first student from their class at the North Carolina Department of Correction com plex at North Wilkesboro. The graduate, Robert Sheffield, passed all parts of the General Educational Development tests held at the prison complex, stated Mrs. Christine P. Davis, Direc tor of the Adult Basic Education (Continued on Page Four)
